SAT Question of the Day Explained – February 23, 2014 – Identifying Sentence Errors

Today’s SAT question of the day is an identifying sentence errors about the Arctic islands. I’ll give you a hint: because grammar.

As you read the sentence, do you hear any errors? Typically and rocky are fine, functioning as adverbs and adjectives should. Streams must be crossed with great care – that works, and is probably some good advice to boot.

That leaves “because near-zero water temperatures and stream beds.” We might say things like this on the internet (because lazy! because sort of funny!) but it is not grammatically correct. “Because of” would work, but without at least an “of”, B is our wrong answer.

Keep practicing and you will be a proof-reading champion!
