ACT Question of the Day Explained – March 25, 2014 – Science

Today’s ACT question of the day is a question from the science passage about a stick and its shadow. We need to determine what would happen to the shadow lengths of the stick if only 0.5m of the stick was exposed.

By reading the experiment’s setup, we know that the original height of the stick in both experiments was 1m.  The new length of the stick is half as tall (0.5 is 1/2 of 1), so we can infer that the shadows should be half as long, too, or choice C.
