ACT Question of the Day Explained – March 18, 2014 – English

Today’s ACT question of the day comes from the English passage about Bessie Coleman.  We are asked to put the sentences of paragraph 4 in their most logical order.

Information generally needs to be presented in chronological order, so we need to identify what happened first.

First, Coleman went to Europe. Next, we can talk about details of what she did while in Europe.  Finally, we can summarize what she did during her time overseas.

Sentence 2 sends Coleman to Europe.  There’s only one answer choice that puts sentence #2 first, and luckily the rest of the sentences in choice C follow the order we predicted: details, then a summary.
