Today’s ACT question of the day wants us to find the slope of the line described by this equation:
3x = 10 – 5y
Sadly, it’s not just pointing to a number – we have to convert this to y = mx + b format.
First, I’m going to flip the whole thing:
10 – 5y = 3x
Then, I’m going to get y alone:
-5y = 3x – 10
y = -3x/5 – 2
The slope (m) is the coefficient of x. In this case, it’s -3/5 (B).
