SAT Question of the Day Explained – February 16, 2014 – Sentence Completion

light-bulbToday’s SAT question of the day is an easy sentence completion, perhaps to atone for yesterday’s hard math question.  The focus is on a dictatorship and what it expects of its citizens.

We know that a dictator demands that his citizens comply with his decisions and probably isn’t too kind to those who don’t follow orders.  The second blank is the key to this sentence – we need a word that means something like “follow orders”.  Choice C fits both blanks perfectly.

Here’s an advanced question for you since this sentence was so easy to break down: what’s wrong with answer choices A and B?  If you see that, how can you know for a fact that they are both wrong?
