Today’s official SAT question of the day is an Improving Sentences question about a certain painter. The first part of the sentence gives some facts about the painter, so the second half of the sentence needs to start with something like “the painter” or his name. It doesn’t currently start this way, so let’s look for an option that does.
There are two options (C and D) that start with the painter’s name. Choice D does is missing a verb that would keep it from forming a giant run-on sentence, so C it is!
Remember that information in a sentence has to go in a logical order. If additional information is presented about the sentence’s subject, it needs to be positioned as close as possible to the subject itself. When other words get in the way, confusion (and poor grammar) ensues!
